HostHuski

Website migration request

Tell us how to reach the WordPress site you want moved. Your current website stays online. You do not change DNS before the migration.

Password verification

Test every password before you submit it. That saves a round of back-and-forth. The information is sent over HTTPS and is used only to perform this migration. Passwords are emailed to HostHuski and are not stored in this form’s database.

Your information

For best results, use your HostHuski account email. Make sure it is valid so migration updates can reach you.

Optional. Include this when it is different from the email above, so we can match the request to your account.

Your domain

Your domain is the address people use to open the website, such as example.com.

Would you like HostHuski to handle the website DNS change?

HostHuski restores and tests the website before any DNS change. You do not need to change nameservers or address records beforehand. Public DNS keeps pointing at your current website until testing is finished. If you ask us to handle DNS, we change only the records needed to point the website at its new server. Email records stay as they are unless you explicitly ask us to change them.

Do you use email at this domain?

HostHuski migrates the website only. We do not move mailboxes as part of this request, and we will not change MX or other email records unless you give separate written authorization. Leave email DNS records as they are.

Where did you buy the domain? Enter the registrar’s website.

Do you use GoDaddy?

If GoDaddy is the registrar, you can delegate access instead of typing the password. Share access with info@hosthuski.com. See GoDaddy’s delegate instructions.

Delegation can avoid a registrar two-factor prompt. If the delegation is incomplete, the migration may take a little longer.

The username or customer ID you use at the registrar.

Previous hosting

We use this only if we cannot sign in to WordPress directly.

Is the site already hosted with HostHuski?

Where is the site hosted now? A website address such as the provider’s site is fine.

Is the cPanel login different from the hosting account?
WordPress access

We use this first to reach the site. The source and destination use the same domain. This request does not move a site onto a different domain or launch a staging site.

How do we log in to WordPress?

Use this when the login address is not wp-admin or wp-login.php.

You can create an administrator just for this migration if you prefer.

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication sends a short-lived code by email, text, or an authenticator app. You do not have to turn it off to submit this request. If it is enabled, we will coordinate with you when access is needed.

Please read this before you submit

HostHuski will copy the website and restore that copy for testing. We will not treat the migration as finished until the restored site has been reviewed. The public domain keeps pointing at the current website until the tested copy is ready and the website DNS change is made. Putting the source site in maintenance mode is optional and is not turned on unless our team chooses it during the copy. Recent edits made while the copy is running can be missed.
